Our Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2019
10. Lego Movie 2: The Second Part
With Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks, we're sure we won't be comically disappointed. The first Lego Movie...movie scored a 95 percent on rotten tomatoes and that's no easy task like that's one percent higher than Pulp Fiction. But anyway, expect more shenanigans from Emmet (voiced by Pratt) alongside of Wyldstyle (a.k.a Lucy, voiced by Banks.) With a sequel on its way in February, we are assured that "everything is awesome!"
9. HellBoy
It's crazy to think the first Hellboy film came out 15 years ago! There is a reboot on his way and we're not sure what to expect. Milla Jovovich is part of the confirmed cast along with Sasha Lane, Daniel Dae Kim, and David Harbour as Hellboy. (We are bummed that we won't see Ron Perlman back on screen) but we love David's work on the popular TV show Stranger Things, so we're staying open minded. Tweet at us how you feel about this reboot set to hit theatres in April.
8. Zombieland: Double Tap
Zombies, zombies, zombies...this is not a drill! Zombieland is back and the four leads are all confirmed to return, so we're already pumped to go see it. We've even heard a rumor Bill Murray is supposedly returning...most likely as a zombie, but that has not been verified yet. Maybe he'll just pop up for a cameo? We'll see. It has been ten years and apparently, the film itself will follow that timeline. What do you think Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita and Little Rock have been up to for the last decade?
7. MA
A middle-aged woman befriends a group of teenagers and even allows them to party at her place. This might sound like a comedy but it's far from that, "Ma" portrayed by Octavia Spencer has one rule: don't go upstairs and as the story unfolds the teenagers learn why. Check out the trailer for all the hair-raising details. So far the cast consists of Juliette Lewis, Luke Evans, Allison Janey, Missi Plye, and more.
6. IT: Chapter Two
The kids are all grown-up and we couldn't be more satisfied with the cast they selected to portray Bill, Ben, Bev, Richie, Mike, Eddie, and Stanley. The first IT (Well, not the first, first but the reboot first) broke records in the box office within just the first couple of weeks so we can only imagine the line that will form opening day. This September get ready to see Bill Skarsgârd put back on the clown makeup to scare the sh*t outta us again.
5. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Let's start by just naming the AMAZING cast lineup: Leonardo DiCaprio (nominated for an Oscar at least six times) Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Dakota Fanning, AL PACINO, Kurt Russell, and many more. Oh, and it will be set in the 60's directed by Quentin Tarantino, in theatres this July.
4. Dark Phoenix
Remember when the did that Dark Phoenix movie but then it didn't really go over too well (X-Men, The Last Stand) and then they went ahead and kind of tried to act like it never happened...well, the Dark Phoenix is back. We feel pretty confident that this time it will meet our expectations, maybe even exceed them. Jennifer Lawrence is back, James McAvoy, and of course Sophie Turner among others. Jean Grey, played by Sophie Turner, begins to grow more powerful and with great power comes...corruption, in this case. Leaving the X-Men team to decide how to save her and if they even can. Do you have goosebumps? Because we do. In theatres June 7th!
3. Captain Marvel
We first heard vaguely the idea of making a Captain Marvel movie back in 2014! What took those guys so long?? Anyway, Brie Larson is set to play the savvy superhuman in March. We know she's an important piece of the End Game puzzle. The plot has been a bit of a wildcard, we're not sure what to expect yet but the Cap has cosmic awareness, the ability to generate heat, speed, and can survive in space...which could help out another certain superhero. According to comics, Carol has a bit of a struggle with a split personality and blackouts, so we're intrigued to see if this will be apart of her storyline on screen.
2. Avengers: End Game
You knew this one would pop up! Tony Stark is in space?? SpiderMan...they took Spiderman! Our jaws were basically left hanging open after the first part left off on a total cliff hanger. Do you think Thanos is somewhere turning buildings into bubbles? End Game comes out in April and by the title alone we're guessing this will be the final Avengers film.
1. Us
Us is going to be CRAZY. And we think it'll be one of those scary movies that leave you guessing the whole time. Us is written and directed by Jordan Peele but will not be a comedy...at all. The lovely and talented Elisabeth Moss is set as one of the main characters along with the stunning, Oscar-winning Lupita Nyong'o. Here's a tidbit of the plot: masked strangers descend upon a house and a family must fight to survive. There's going to be hauntings, masks, eerie instances, paranoia...basically it's going to be an epic, terrifying experience in theatres March 22nd.
